Disneyland To Ban Screaming On Rides When It Reopens

After being closed for a year, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain and other Southern California theme parks will begin to reopen in April.

Although, the California Attractions and Parks Association (CAPA), a trade group which represents theme parks in California, have backed up a plan to tamp down on effects that would have guests screaming on rides, such as rollercoasters, to ensure that there isn’t a spread of COVID-19.

“Face covering usage and/or modifications to seat loading patterns will be required on amusement park rides to mitigate the effects of shouting,” CAPA wrote in their reopening plan. “Additionally, on rides, guests generally face in one direction.”

Both Los Angeles and Orange counties recently moved into the red tier of the state’s reopening guide, which allows for theme parks to reopen on April 1 with 15% capacity. No out of state visitors will be allowed in the parks for the near future.

No visitors have been allowed inside any California theme parks since March 2020.

Visitors are limited to groups of no more than 10 people in a group and from only three households or less. No indoor dining will be allowed in the parks and tickets must be purchased online in advance.
