Director Jason “Jace” Alexander, best known for working on episodes of Law & Order and Rescue Me, was arrested on child pornography charges Wednesday in New York.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Alexander, 51, was charged with one felony count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one felony count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
The D.A.’s office had been investigating Alexander since last Friday, when an investigator traced child pornography to an IP address at Alexander’s home. When the director’s computer hardware was searched, “digital files of children who are less than 16 years of age engaged in child pornography” were discovered, according to the D.A.’s press release.
Alexander is currently being held on $10,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison. He is due in court Nov. 19.
In addition to directing 32 episodes of Law & Order and 19 episodes of Rescue Me, Alexander has more recently been behind the camera for Scorpion, The Mysteries of Laura, The Blacklist and Lifetime’s made-for-TV movie about Jodi Arias. Last month, he was tapped to serve as the Directors Guild of America’s second vice-president.
Alexander is married to actress Maddie Corman, with whom he has three children.
