Dior Postpones Travis Scott Collaboration Due to Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott and Dior have indefinitely parted ways amid the fallout after the deaths of 10 concertgoers at the rapper’s Astroworld Festival.

A Dior spokesperson revealed yesterday that they have decided to “postpone indefinitely the launch” of an upcoming collaboration with Scott’s clothing line Cactus Jack set to launch in January 2022.

A source told NBC News the postponement was a “mutual decision” reached by both parties, and that the launch will be rescheduled eventually.

Dior is the latest in a series of deals the rapper has lost or had delayed due to the November 5 Astroworld tragedy. Scott’s line of hard seltzers was dropped by Anheuser-Busch, Nike postponed the launch of a Cactus Jack shoe, and Scott was reportedly dropped from Coachella’s 2022 lineup.

2021’s Astroworld was described by officers as a “mass casualty incident” due to overcrowding which saw the concertgoers beginning “to compress towards the front of the stage,” causing several injuries and the deaths of 10 fans.

While the manner of death for victims was listed as an accident, Scott has been criticized for not stopping the concert or noticing sooner that things were getting out of control from onstage. Scott is facing numerous lawsuits from families of the victims and others that were injured at the Festival.

In a lengthy interview with Charlamagne Tha God which was released on December 6, Scott expressed remorse over the tragedy and gave his side of the events. He claimed that he “didn’t know the exact details,” of the injuries and deaths at the concert until minutes before he addressed them publicly in a press conference.

Scott said that seeing fans pass out is commonplace at most concerts, and claimed to not hear onlookers screaming for help during his set. He did even stop the show a couple of times but cited the noise and confusion of the show as to why he didn’t stop it for longer.
