Dillon Passage, husband of Tiger King’s Joe Exotic (Joseph Maldonado-Passage), was arrested in Texas this weekend for driving while intoxicated. The 25-year-old Netflix star was not only charged with DWI, but also resisting arrest, search or transport. He was released on a a $3000 bond with the two misdemeanors charges against him
Passage and Maldonado met back in 2017, when Tiger King was still being filmed and Passage was battling both depression and drug addiction. The couple married December of that year.
Nine months later, in September 2018, Maldonado was arrested and ultimately convicted for two counts of hiring someone to murder rival zookeeper Carole Baskin in Florida, on eight counts of violating the Lacey Act by falsifying wildlife records, and on nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act by killing five tigers and for selling tigers across state lines.
Maldonado is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence, and in in interview with People, Passage has said that his husband’s imprisonment has become his new normal.
“It’s kind of weird to say, but I’ve kind of gotten used to our situation,” Passage said. “The only thing that’s keeping us going is really just hoping for the best and these lawyers seem like they have a really good plan to kind of get things executed.”
