Did Nicki Minaj Throw Shade At J. Lo During American Music Awards?

Nicki Minaj appeared to throw some shade at Jennifer Lopez during the 2015 American Music Awards Sunday night.

Lopez opened up the AMAs with a dance number set to a medley of the year’s most popular songs –including Minaj’s “Anaconda.” When Lopez busted out a few moves to the track, the camera panned to Minaj, who didn’t look too impressed.

After seeing a fan’s tweet suggesting she was dismissive of J.Lo, Minaj tried to squash the suggestion. “I’m looking at my own face on the screen,” Minaj explained.

Minaj, who won the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist – Female award, as well as the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album award for The Pinkprint, definitely wasn’t happy after taking the stage to accept one of the awards. She was caught on camera, trophy in hand, rolling her eyes in exasperation.

Minaj explained that awkward moment as well, tweeting that she had hoped to get the chance to thank Ariana Grande, but couldn’t because of the timer on the speeches.
