Lifetime has renewed its popular primetime soap opera Devious Maids for a third season that will air on the network in 2014.
Devious Maids, created by Marc Cherry, will have a third, 13-episode season, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Cherry will be continuing in his role as Devious Maids’ showrunner and will co-executive produce alongside Ric Scwartzlander and Brian Tanen.
"We are thrilled to be bringing Devious Maids back for another season,” said Lifetime’s executive VP and GM Rob Sharenow. “Marc Cherry has created a uniquely twisted world that blends his comic wit with devilishly ingenious characters and plot twists.”
Devious Maids’ sophomore season, which wrapped up two months ago, averaged 1.8 million viewers per week. While the viewership was down from the show’s first season, it was enough to keep its status as the No. 1 basic cable program airing Sunday nights at 10 p.m. among women.
