Shoe designer Christian Louboutin, 49, famous for his trademark red sole, and a favorite among celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie and Rihanna, has finally perfected his quest for the perfect re-imagined Cinderella slipper, in his new collaboration with Disney.

"Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes," said Louboutin in a statement. "It's a very classic fairy tale about love and the dream that love is absolutely pure," he told USA Today, describing the Cinderella fairy tale. Lori MacPherson, the executive vice president of global product management at Disney, agrees that Cinderella's glass slipper is "possibly the most iconic shoe in literature."

Louboutin's design — a translucent, lacy, lightly bejeweled peep-tow slipper featuring butterflies on the toe and heel can turn "anyone into modern-day Cinderellas," Louboutin said. While the slipper is beyond unique, Louboutin acknowledged that it's not necessarily what everyone would envision for Cinderella's "glass" slipper. "You imagine it being completely transparent, [made] out of glass," he told the paper, but he realized that "full and classical transparency made into a shoe makes a really ugly foot," and plastic looks "sort of punky." The delicacy of lace seemed the most obvious option.

The Cinderella slipper was created by Louboutin in honor of Disney's global release of the Cinderella Diamond Edition Blu-ray this Fall, and 20 pairs of the glamorous shoe will be given away worldwide. Details will be released about the giveaway on August 17. Otherwise, Louboutin's Cinderella slipper is not being produced for mass sale.
