Derek & Hannah Jeter Welcome Baby Girl Bella Raine

Former Yankees’ shortstop Derek Jeter and wife Hannah Jeter have welcomed their first child together. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model gave birth to a baby girl named Bella Raine Jeter on August 17. The couple announced they were expecting back in February.

The swimsuit model, 27, broke the news on The Players’ Tribune, a website founded by the former baseball star.

Now, pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future. He already has a name in mind—he’s set on it. (We’ll see.) He’ll say when he calls me during the day: ‘So, how are you and so-and-so doing?’ ‘That’s not the name yet, sweetie.’ Whatever her name is, I know she’ll run circles around him.

Although Bella Raine was just born, the couple already has plans for how they want to raise her and any other future children they may have.

Derek and I will want our children to understand that the lives they’ve been given are so fortunate, in so many ways. We’ll want them to learn to help others, and to care for others, and to give back to the world. We’ll let them know that they are strong and smart, and that they can do anything they put their minds to. I hope they’ll be honest like their father. I hope they’ll be stubborn like me. I hope that they know what they want and won’t settle for less. And if they want to play baseball, well, we’re gonna have a little talk first.

Hannah Jeter, the host of Project Runway: Junior explains that she will likely be a stern parent to her new child. “I think I’ll be strict because my parents were relatively strict with me,” she told sources. “You just want them to get through high school and get them on the right path.”

The couple welcomed their daughter not long after they celebrated their first wedding anniversary in July. Jeter, 42, admits he feels unprepared and nervous about his new role as father, but is excited to embark on this new chapter.

“You know, I prided myself in my career to be prepared at all games. Any time I’m unprepared, it makes me uncomfortable. I’m unprepared. From everything people have told me, just do it and see what happens. People can give you advice, but until you’re in it, you never really know what to expect,” the athlete told sources. “I’m excited, but at the same time, I’m nervous.”
