Depeche Mode is back together and is releasing a new album, Spirit, in the spring of next year.
The group will be visiting European cities beginning May 5 in Stockholm, Sweden, and wrapping up in July in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Additional dates will be announced in North and South America.
Proceeds from the tour will go toward charity:water. “If you don’t know charity:water, you should,” says guitarist Martin Gore. “They’re an amazing organization whose goal is to bring clean, safe drinking water to everybody on the planet. On the last tour, with our fans’ help, we were able to raise over $1.4 million for charity:water. Those funds specifically brought clean water to people in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.”
In addition to the album and tour, the electronic band will also release their Singles Video Collection, which will cover the group’s music videos from 1981-2013. “It’s been amazing to go back and relive all the experiences and memories these videos evoke after all these years,” a statement released by the band said. “It’s incredible to have all our videos finally together in one place, and we’re hoping our fans enjoy this journey through time as much as we did.”
Depeche Mode was formed in 1980 in the UK. Spirit will be their fourteenth studio album. Their last album, 2013’s Delta Machine, hit the number six spot on the Billboard 200 album charts.
