Denzel Washington To Helm ‘Grey’s Episode
Washington will helm the ninth episode of the current season of Grey’s Anatomy, TVLine reported. The episode, penned by Stacy McKee, will shoot later this month and will air during November sweeps.
While Washington, a two-time Oscar winner, is best known for his acting work, he also has a pair of directorial credits under his belt. He was behind the camera for both Antwone Fisher (2002) and The Great Debaters (2007). Both films were reviewed favorably by critics.
Grey’s Anatomy will mark Washington’s TV directorial debut.
On the Grey’s Anatomy set, Washington will get the chance to work with his longtime friend Debbie Allen, who not only appears on Grey’s but serves as an executive producer and sometime director for the show.
Washington, whose last feature film was The Equalizer, will return to the big screen next year in Antoine Fuqua‘s The Magnificent Seven with Matt Bomer, Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ethan Hawke and Peter Sarsgaard. He’ll also reprise the part of Robert McCall in The Equalizer 2 in 2017.
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c.
