Dennis Quaid Endorses Trump For President: ‘He’s My A——‘

Veteran actor Dennis Quaid has announced his support for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Quaid, known for his roles in films like The Parent Trap and the upcoming biopic Reagan, shared his reasons for backing the Republican in an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Quaid, who had previously expressed reservations about the former president’s conduct, has now decided to support Trump and cited his performance in office as the primary factor. “As president, the only thing I liked about Trump was everything he did,” Quaid stated, with special praise for Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic back in 2020.

The actor, who has described himself as an independent voter, said he initially hesitated to support Trump but has since changed his stance. “It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump until what I saw as — more than politics — I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our constitution,” Quaid explained.

Quaid’s endorsement of Trump comes amid the former president’s ongoing legal troubles. However, the actor appeared unfazed by these developments and stated, “People might call him an a—–, but he’s my a——.”

The interview also touched on Quaid’s upcoming role as President Ronald Reagan in the biopic Reagan, which the actor initially hesitated to take on. “It took a long time to take the role because I was overwhelmed by it… it really sent fear down my spine, which is an indication that I should probably do that, because it get me out of my comfort zone,” Quaid said.

Despite his admiration for Reagan, who he considers his favorite president, Quaid stated that the filmmakers aimed to tell the story “warts and all, in a certain sense.”

Last year, Quaid spoke exclusively to uInterview about his golf film, The Long Game“I was just really enjoying being on the golf course every day because I play golf,” he said. “But what I’ve found out is you really don’t get to play much golf when you’re doing a golf movie. I play only once a day. But even for anybody who doesn’t play golf, it’s not a golf movie, like in a sports movie, it can’t be about the sport, it’s like The Rookie. It was not about baseball. It was about second chances, and that’s something everybody can relate to.”
