Dennis Burkley, best known for his voice acting on King of the Hill, died over the weekend at his home in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 67.
Burkley passed away in his sleep late Saturday evening or early Sunday, according to his agent, David Ankrum. The actor’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
Aside from voicing King of the Hill character Principal Moss from 1997-2010, Burkley acted in a number of films and TV series. He had parts in the 1991 rock biopic The Doors, Tin Cup with Kevin Costner and Mask with Cher and Sam Elliot. Buckley also guest-starred on Jason Lee’s My Name is Earl a number of times during its four-seaon run.
“Dennis could do both comedy and drama, and he had a tender side — he didn't look it, but he did,” said Ankrum. The agent revealed that although Burkley seemed to have been in somewhat of a retirement over the last few years, he’d been focusing on his voice work and had been producing a few smaller pictures.
Buckley is survived by his wife, Laura, son Shawn, and daughter Shannon.
