In an effort to deny Brooke Mueller custody of her twins with ex Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards, another one of Sheen’s exes, allegedly wrote a letter to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) claiming that the twins are violent and she can no longer take care of them.

Richards, who was married to Sheen from 2002-2006 and has two children with him, became the guardian of Sheen’s four-year-old twin sons with Mueller in May of 2013 after Mueller overdosed on illegal drugs and was placed under an involuntary hold. Sheen, who has also had a very public battle with addiction, was happy with the arrangement that placed his youngest sons with family.

Mueller, now out of rehab, has recently been granted overnight visitations with sons Bob and Max by the DCFS, something Richards and Sheen are both furious about.

In an effort to keep Mueller from gaining more custody and time with her children, Richards wrote a letter to the DCFS that allegedly details the twins’ behavioral problems and accuses Mueller of being a bad influence on the children. In the alleged letter, Richards recounts the twins’ violent tendencies and says that Bob and Max show a shocking lack of empathy towards others. Richard states that her daughters, Sam, Lola, and her adoptive daughter Eloise, have been victims of the twins’ violent outbursts. Richards claims the twins have kicked her daughters in the head and stomach and once threw a toy at Sam’s face that resulted to a trip to the doctor, according to TMZ.

Richards also states that the twins have had behavioral problems at school, and links their troubled behavior to their interactions with Mueller. The letter allegedly states that Max and Bob become especially prone to violent outbursts after chaotic visits with their mother. Additionally, Richards states that she has tried to take the boys to counseling, on a doctors’ recommendations, but that Mueller has prevented her from doing so.

In an e-mail Richards brought to the DCFS on Wednesday, Dr. Jay Gordon, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA Medical School, strongly recommends the twins see a psychiatrist for evaluation.

“As we have discussed, because of recent events involving the boys’ behavior I think that they need urgent evaluation. I am very concerned about their escalating violent actions. The apparent lack of understanding of the consequences and the safety of others is worrisome. I would like them seen by Dr. Alessia Gottlieb for a complete developmental and behavioral assessment,” reads the e-mail dated Aug. 23, 2013.

Richards brought the e-mail to the DCFS as proof that Mueller has been blocking recommended treatment for her children.

As to Sheen’s parenting, Richards reportedly praises his efforts and recounts his presence in his children’s lives – writing that he often has dinner with her and their children and makes time for family trips and outings.

Though Richards’ letter reportedly states that she is no longer able to care for the twins due to their violent behavior, sources say that it is an empty threat, designed to show the courts how serious the twins’ behavioral problems have become.

“I can’t imagine Denise would want to give up the boys. It seems like an ultimatum of me versus Brooke,” a source said.

Sheen has also chimed in against Mueller, publicly calling her an “uber loser” on Twitter and bashing her in interviews. Not immune from Sheen’s wrath, the DCFS has also been trashed in the media by Sheen, causing them to revoke Richards’ position as the court-appointed monitor for his visits with his sons. Sheen has accused the DCFS of not doing their jobs, and even alleged that the DCFS must be accepting bribes from Mueller to write positive reports of her visits with her twin boys.

Sheen says that he fears for the safety of his children when they are with their mother, and expressed his desire to obtain primary custody for himself, with help from Richards to care for the children when he is working.

Sheen also claims that he strongly suspects Mueller of being a negligent parent, causing injury to his son Bob.

“Denise, she’s so smart, she takes photos of [the kids] before they leave and then photos of them when they come back. And Bob had a rash on his face that… I don’t know, look like somebody burned him or put him in a tanning bed for half an hour, that was not there four hours earlier when she dropped them off,” Sheen says.

Richards and Mueller are reportedly meeting with DCFS to discuss a custody arrangement today.
