Denise Richards is no stranger to taking risks on-screen, but her experience on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test proved to be more hazardous than she anticipated. The actress recently revealed that she ruptured her breast implants during a stunt for the show’s third season.
“I jumped off a bridge, and that’s when I ruptured my implants,” Richards shared on the Jan. 3 episode of Jeff Lewis Live. She explained that the injury was caused by the harness used for the stunt, adding, “I still have to get them redone. I was supposed to a month ago, but I couldn’t because we were filming.”
When asked if Fox would cover the cost of the procedure, Richards replied, “No, I have to pay the price. I think I pretty much signed our life away doing that show. It’s dangerous!”
Danger is a core element of Special Forces, which replicates the brutal U.S. Special Forces selection course. Contestants are pushed to their physical and mental limits with tasks such as jumping out of helicopters, scaling cliffs, and enduring bombing simulations.
Richards will compete in season 3 alongside a star-studded cast that includes Stephen Baldwin, Kyla Pratt, Brody Jenner and NFL quarterback Cam Newton. Past seasons of the show have seen intense challenges and grueling conditions, with contestants surviving on 800 calories a day, sleeping on cots, and enduring 16-hour days of physically taxing exercises.
Kenya Moore, a contestant on season 1, described the experience as one of the hardest of her life. “Even giving birth was probably easier than this show,” Moore said. “And I almost died giving birth, so that’s saying a lot.”
Of the 30 contestants who participated in the first two seasons, only five completed the course.
Fans can watch Richards and the other contestants battle the elements and themselves when Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premieres its third season with a two-episode debut on Jan. 8 on Fox.
In 2022, Richards was the victim of a road rage incident where a driver shot at her and her boyfirend.
