Demi Moore Says She’s Reached ‘Deep Acceptance Of Her Ex-Husband Bruce Willis’ Dementia Battle

Demi Moore opened up about how she is handling her ex-husband, Bruce Willis battle with dementia.

The actress, 61, shared how she managed Willis’ illness when she accepted the award for career achievement in acting at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on Sunday.

“You know, I’ve said this before. The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,” she relayed to the audience. “But for where he’s at, he is stable.”

In acknowledging the actor’s diagnosis, Willis shared some advice for those in a similar situation.

“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at,” she said. “When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.”

The actress noted that she had visited Willis just “two days ago” with her granddaughter, Louetta.

Moore’s daughter, Tallulah, also shared a heartbreaking update on her father during a September appearance on Today.

“He’s stable, which, in this situation, is good,” Tallulah said. “It’s hard. There’s painful days, but there’s so much love. And it’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted and I really do think that we’d be best friends. I think he’s very proud of me.”

Willis’ family announced his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia in February 2023.

Willis’ dementia reveal came nearly a year after he retired from acting due to an earlier diagnosis of aphasia, which can hinder a person’s ability to speak, write and understand language.
