Demi Moore Fires Back After Wrongful-Death Suit By Parents Of Edenilson Steven Valle

After being named in a wrongful-death suit in May, actress Demi Moore is denouncing claims that she is to blame for the man’s drowning death.

The victim, Edenilson Steven Valle, 21, attended a party thrown by Moore’s house manager, Lenny Hernandez, in July of 2015. Moore, who was out of town at the time of the party, claims it was the victim’s own fault for tripping over a rock that was in plain sight. Everyone but Valle, who could not swim, had left the party before the drowning occurred.

Valle’s parents, Jorge and Maria, filed a wrongful-death suit initially against Moore’s personal assistant and another individual who also threw the party. The suit was later amended citing that Moore bears liability for not supervising the house manager and for “abundant dangerous conditions” at her abode, including a lack of depth markers or safety signage for her 10-foot pool. The suit also cited various lighting issues and decorative rocks which combined with alcohol created a hazardous environment for their son. According to TMZ, Moore’s lawyer argues that any judgment in the case should reflect Valle’s responsibility in the accident.

At the time of the incident Moore told People magazine, “I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news. The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy, and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”

It is unclear how much the Valle family is seeking in damages, but Moore argues the entire lawsuit be thrown out and the estate not be awarded any money.
