Hilary Clinton was joined by Disney star Demi Lovato to greet a large campaign rally held at the University of Iowa on Thursday. Clinton made some jabs at her rival Bernie Sanders, who currently leading in polls with the younger demographic.
Lovato sang four songs and began the campaign with her hit single, “Confident.” The song then lead into a speech on why she plans on voting for Clinton, and how she exemplify’s her hit single “Confident.”
“I don’t think there is a woman more confident than Hillary Clinton,” Lovato told the cheering crowd at the University of Iowa. “I am voting for her because of her beliefs, her strength and the fact that she completely embodies the concept of women empowerment,” said Lovato.
The Democratic presidential candidate came out with open arms to hug the young singer and thank her for supporting the campaign. Clinton said she admires Lovato for “talking about issues that people sometimes find hard to talk about.” Referring to the mental health issues the singer faced publicly a few years ago.
Clinton then continued on speaking about the gun lobby and President Obama. “I am proud of the progress we have made under President Obama, and I don’t want anyone sending us back,” she said. Clinton narrowly beat Sanders Monday night in the caucuses.
