Demi Lovato Opens Up About Rehab

Checking into rehab was a matter of life or death, Demi Lovato, 18, says. The young singer and actress said she checked herself in for treatment of anorexia, bulimia and self-mutilation in October 2010 because there was no other choice. "I wasn't going to continue to be alive if I continued to treat my body the way I was," she told E! News.

Lovato's openness about her disorders and rehabilitation comes on the heels of the release of her latest music video, "Skyscraper," which is about "coming back stronger than ever." Lovato recorded the song almost a year ago when she was at the height of her suffering and "ruining [her voice] by damaging it after every meal."

Now, Lovato said she's getting back to work. She is putting the finishing touches on her third studio album, and she has confirmed that she will be working with Timbaland's younger brother, Sebastian. Though she has completed her treatment, Lovato said her battle with eating disorders and self-abuse is far from over. "It's a daily journey and it's definitely going to be a struggle that I'll have to deal with for the rest of my life," she said.
