Bachelor In Paradise filming shuts down
Bachelor in Paradise participant DeMario Jackson, who was accused of sexually assaulting another participant, reportedly will not return to the show.
Sources say Jackson did not accept the show’s invitation to return as another franchise contestant blasts racism as a main factor in the scandal.
Jackson was accused of sexual misconduct with fellow contestant Corinne Olympios on set. Warner Bros. previously stopped production to investigate possible misconduct on the set after complaints from producers and crew members, found no evidence of it, and announced it would resume shooting the series.
Will Gaskins, who was on The Bachelorette with Jackson, says race was a factor in Warner Bros.’ decision to suspend filming after a producer claimed Olympios may have been too drunk to consent to a sexual encounter with Jackson, a black man, in the pool of the Mexico resort.
“It wasn’t until The black man got into the mix that this was deemed as no longer acceptable,” Gaskins wrote on Instagram.
“We can lie to ourselves and say that race isn’t a factor here and pretend that it doesn’t affect our day to day lives but it’s just that, a lie,” he continued.
Jackson reportedly thinks “it’s not a good idea” to return to the shoot the series in Mexico and is apparently “focusing on himself.”
