Dell UltraSharp U2713HM Is Monitor Designed For Comfortable Viewing, Multi-Window Browsing

Before the dawn of the widescreen movie theater experience, many picture houses implemented a series of three curved screens. The goal was to have the image entirely within the audience’s periphery, making for an immersive viewing experience. Dell pulls from that technology to create its gently curving, 34-inch UltraSharl U213HM monitor.

At just 13 pounds, it’s an unusually light and thin monitor, with a powerful 2,560×1,440 pixels resolution. The monitor is also designed to make your viewing experience less strenuous, and an user has the options of swiveling the display up to 45 degrees left or right; for further customization, the UltraSharp also can pivot 90 degrees and tilt back another 20.

The pivot is especially helpful for connecting your computer or other devices, allowing you to reach the available DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and VGA connections. The Ultrasharp also comes with USB 3.0 ports, for a super fast connection.

The LED backlight helps keep colors accurate, but consider this monitor more helpful for your productivity than movie-watching or game-playing. Video is noticeably heavy on blues and has a greenish tints, while blacks are often crushed, resulting in a loss of detail, according to a recent CNET review.

As for the curve, it’s slight enough to allow the entire screen to fit within your view, making it seem like a more manageable display. That being said, it is neither overly dramatic nor gimmicky in it’s functionality.

At over $600, the UltraSharp is not the cheapest monitor around, but makes up for it with the ability to expand your single-display workspace.
