Fans of The Amazing-Spider Man comic book series are none too thrilled with the last story spun by author Dan Slott, in which Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield (pictured) in the latest movie version, is no more.
In Issue #700, Parker is killed when his mind is forcibly swapped with that of Doctor Otto Octavius (Doc Ock). Parker’s body lives on, but it does so now with the brain of Doc Ock. Marvel has announced plans to release a new Spider-Man title,The Superior Spider-Man, which will be released next month. "The Amazing Spider-Man series ends with a defining death and birth meshed among the Spidey mythos," title editor Stephen Wacker said.
Wacker’s comments have done little to quell the anger and disappointment fans are feeling. “This actually made me tear up a bit. How could they do that to Spider-Man? How could they let it end that way for Peter? This "Superior Spider-Man" is some sick joke,” wrote one fan on Marvel’s Facebook page. “I’m not even mad, just sad and sick.”
