It looks like former Sons of Anarchy star Johnny Lewis’s death was accidental. In late September Lewis, 28, was found dead in a Los Angeles driveway after killing his elderly landlord, Catherine Davis, 81, and her cat, as well as assaulting two other individuals.
The violent nature of his death, a steep fall from a building terrace, raised questions as to how exactly Lewis died, but a coroner’s report acquired by Rumor Fix seems to dispel an notions of foul play and suicide. A toxicology report also revealed there were no drugs in Lewis’s system, as many suspected.
According to the report, Lewis looks to have jumped from an “elevated terrace to the driveway while attempting to flee the scene. During the approximately 15 foot drop he apparently lost his balance or struck an object. This caused him to land so his head impacted the concrete driveway.”
Lewis, best known as Kip “Half-Sack” Epps on the first two seasons of the FX motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy, as well as Katy Perry’s former fling, appeared in such notable shows as Boston Public, The O.C. and Criminal Minds. He had also been featured in films such as The Runaways with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Lewis had a history of mental illness and criminal behavior, having been been arrested in the past for assault and robbery before his latest, and last, run-in with the law.
A report from probation officers prior to Lewis's and Catherine’s deaths offered haunting evidence that a tragedy was near. Officers believed Lewis had a chemical dependency and stated less than two months before the incident that they were “very concerned for the well-being of not only the community but that of the defendant" and believed Lewis would “continue to be a threat in any community he may reside.”
