‘Dead Rising 4: Deluxe Edition’ Announced, Season Pass Detailed

Christmas is a magical time of the year, and it’s going to serve as the backdrop for Capcom Vancouver’s upcoming sandbox beat ’em up, Dead Rising 4. The fourth numbered installment in Capcom’s decade-old zombie series is set to be released in most territories on December 6 for the Xbox One and Windows 10.

Yesterday, Microsoft revealed Dead Rising 4: Deluxe Edition, which is now available to pre-order. Dead Rising 4: Deluxe Edition will be sold as a digital code at select retailers and through Microsoft’s online store. This elusive care package will retail for $79.99, and it contains the Dead Rising 4 Season Pass, which will cost $24.99 by itself.

So, is this Season Pass worthwhile? It comes with these items:

  • The Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack, which provides Frank West with a plethora of Christmas-themed tools, including weapons, clothes and vehicles. Considering how the Dead Rising series has developed a reputation for its absurdity, you can be sure that the base game will already have plenty of silly items.
  • Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf, which can bring up to four players together for a lighthearted approximation of mini golf. You’ll use Frank’s signature weapons instead of a standard golf club as you play across Willamette, Colorado. Those naughty zombies will wander around the course, so you’ll be mowing them down as you go. It sounds like it could be a fun diversion.
  • Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising is a DLC campaign where Frank is struggling to cure his new infection. Zombies and humans alike will antagonize the unlucky journalist, and Willamette is once again in danger of being eradicated. For the first time since Dead Rising 2: Case West, time is of the essence!

Personally, none of that is enough to entice me to buy Dead Rising 4 at all, let alone spend extra for the Deluxe Edition or Season Pass. Regardless, I’ll continue to keep an eye on Dead Rising 4, and I hope it manages to pleasantly surprise me.

Are you excited to return to Willamette?
