Drug Enforcement Administration agents reportedly participated in “sex parties” with prostitutes who were hired by local drug cartels overseas.

DEA Agent Sex Parties

According to a report by the Justice Department’s watchdog, the Inspector General, DEA agents engaged in the alleged sex parties over the course of several years. Ten agents stand accused of participating in the parties, though three deny any wrongdoing. The seven who admitted to the parties – but denied knowing the prostitutes were hired with cartel funds – received suspensions between two and 10 days.

The sex parties reportedly took place predominantly at “quarters” in Colombia, according to the Washington Post. It is also alleged that a trio of DEA supervisory special agents in Colombia received money, expensive gifts and weapons from drug cartel members.

“The Department of Justice takes the issues raised in the Inspector General report seriously and … is taking steps to implement policies and procedures to help prevent them from happening in the future,” said Justice Department spokesman Patrick Rodenbush.

Rodenbush added, “The Department is already working with the law enforcement components to ensure a zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment and misconduct is enforced and that incidents are properly reported. The Department is also committed to ensuring the proper preservation and disclosure of electronic communications, including text messages and images.”

In total, the report indicates that that there were 26 allegations involving DEA agents soliciting prostitutes while out of the country between 2009 through 2012.
