Dax Shepard sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday and told the host about his wife Kristen Bell’s latest pregnancy scare and his reaction.
“Last year, my wife was working in Atlanta. We were there and she all of a sudden goes, ‘Oh, my gosh! I’m so stupid. I’ve been sick for 10 days and ignoring it; I’m definitely pregnant,'” Shepard told Kimmel.
“And I was like, ‘We’re going to turn into Jon & Kate Plus 8 or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.’ I freaked out,” the actor joked.
Shepard admitted that he had to wait eight hours for the results of the test and couldn’t help imagining his future.
“For eight hours I was like imagining my life with all these kids,” he said, adding that it was a false alarm.
Shepard didn’t want to wait for another scare. “That was Tuesday. I flew home Wednesday for a meeting. Thursday morning I had a vasectomy,” he recalled. “I had a vasectomy and Kristen was not thrilled that I did it so quickly.”
The View discussed Shepard’s vasectomy Friday morning, and Joy Behar said she thought he and Bell should have had a sit-down discussion about the decision. “Shouldn’t he have had a little more of a conversation with the woman?” Behar asked.
Shepard and Bell have two children together, Lincoln Shepard, 3, and Delta Shepard, 17 months.
