Friends-star turned director David Schwimmer, and his wife, photographer Zoe Buckman, welcomed their first child, daughter Cleo Buckman Schwimmer, in New York on Sunday, May 8. The couple married last June after dating since 2007, when they met in Buckman’s native London. Schwimmer was making his directorial debut with the comedy, Run Fatboy Run and Buckman reportedly waited on him while she was working at the Cuckoo Club in the city’s West End.

In 2006 Schwimmer has said he was eager to be a father. “It will happen when it feels right,” he told People. “Maybe part of me is waiting for myself to slow down a little and be ready to stay put. I'm confident it's gonna happen." The time must have been right as Schwimmer tweeted a photo on Tuesday of himself, Buckman and their newborn daughter with the caption, “Hey everyone. Please welcome my daughter, Cleo, to this crazy but wonderful world.”

Schwimmer will be returning to his voice-role as Melman the Giraffe in Madagascar 3, the latest installment of the animated franchise, when it is released next year. His second directorial effort, Trust, a dark melodrama starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener, has received strong critical reception and will also be released next year.
