Partridge Family patriarch David Cassidy died on Nov. 21, aged 64, and apparently left nothing to his estranged daughter Katie Cassidy in his will.
Cassidy wasn’t very close to Katie, 31, before he died. She was born out of a relationship with model Sherry Williams. Cassidy also has a son, Beau Cassidy, 26, with his third wife Sue Shifrin. The Blast reports that Cassidy did not include his daughter in his will, and is leaving all of his assets, about $150,000, to Beau.
“It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy,” the Partridge Family dad said in 2004 when his will was created. By 2015, Cassidy had declared bankruptcy and was in debt up to $10 million.
Cassidy died of liver and kidney failure, but suffered from dementia in the years leading up to his death. This past February, Cassidy spoke to People about his children. “I’ve never had a relationship with her,” he said of Katie. “I wasn’t her father. I was her biological father but I didn’t raise her. She has a completely different life.”
Despite their differences, Cassidy said he was “proud” of his daughter for her career. Katie has starred in such TV shows as Arrow and Gossip Girl. “She’s very talented,” he said. “It’s hard for me to even accept how old she is now, like 30.”
After Cassidy’s passing, Katie took to Twitter to thank her fans for their well-wishes. She also shared her father’s final words: “So much wasted time.”
