Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl invited his 8-year-old daughter Harper on stage to play drums at an Iceland concert.
The concert took place last Sunday, on Father’s Day, and Grohl introduced his daughter to the crowd. “About two weeks ago my daughter said, ‘Daddy, I want to play the drums.’ And I said, ‘Ok, you want me to teach you?’ and she said, ‘Yes,'” Grohl told the audience. “And then I said, ‘Do you want to get up in front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?’ And she said, ‘Yes.'”
And so she did.
Before founding Foo Fighters, Grohl had been the drummer in Nirvana. Drums were his primary instrument, but he also plays guitar and sings. “Welcome to the next generation,” Grohl said as Harper took the stage. “There’s another Grohl on the drumset.”
On Sunday, Harper played along with the band to Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” which is the first song she learned to drum to. Queen even saw her performance and tweeted out their praise.
“Say hello to Iceland for me, would ya? Good job… Get outta here, I got a show to play, go, go, go, go, go,” Grohl joked at his daughter as she ran off stage. “My day’s are numbered.”
