On screen, he fights The Dark Lord and a posse of evil witches. In reality, Daniel Radcliffe battles another foe: alcohol.
Radcliffe is confessing that getting caught up in the Hollywood lifestyle led to a drinking problem. "I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff," he told GQ. "There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me."
Radcliffe also said that he chose to get clean last August just as filming on the Harry Potter films was closing. The final installment, The Deathly Hallows Part 2, is due to hit theaters on July 15.
Radcliffe said his drinking was at its worst on the set of 2009's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, though the press never got wind of it. "I really got away with that because there were many instances when a paparazzi shot like that could have been taken," he said.
With alcohol and playing Harry behind him, Radcliffe said he's ready for "a quiet life" with his new girlfriend, Olive Uniacke. "As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me," he said. "I'd just rather sit at home and read, or go out to dinner with someone, or talk to someone I love, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh."

It doesn't seem like his "problem" was as bad as the press is making it out to be from what Radcliffe says. It definitely didn't stop kids from looking up to him and Harry Potter!
