Daniel Craig Makes Cameo In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
Craig reportedly appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a stormtrooper, popping up in one of the movie’s most memorable scenes.
“He did it for sh–s and grins,” said one of the people with knowledge of the actor’s performance.
At one point in the movie, Rey (Daisy Ridley) has been captured, and makes her maiden attempt at a Jedi mind trick.
“You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open,” Rey tells the stormtrooper, played by Craig.
The scene is a call back to Obi-Wan Kenobi telling a stormtrooper that “these aren’t the droids you’re looking for” in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
“I’ll tighten those restraints, scavenger scum,” Craig’s character replies, although fans in the audience may not be able to tell that it’s him. Viewers only heard the actor’s British accent and never see his face.
Yet, the surprise cameo inspired cheers during the pre-release screening.
