It’s official: Daniel Craig has signed on to take the lead role in David Fincher‘s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The film is part one of a trilogy adapted from Stieg Larsson’s posthumously published crime thriller series, all three of which will star Craig as the scruffy financial journalist, Mikael Blomkvist.
In Dragon Tattoo, Blomkvist is caught between a libel case, a kidnapping and a myriad of intricate corruptions. Filming is reported to take place in Sweden, though there is currently no confirmed casting for the lead heroine of Lisbeth Salander. Screen tests will be conducted this week, with rumors of Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska and Rooney Mara possibly making the cut. The film is expected to hit theaters Dec. 21, 2011. –Natthakan Garunrangseewong
