Dancing with the Stars on Monday night featured the six remaining couples dancing one "America's Choice" dance and a trio with one of the other pros.

Dancing With The Stars Recap

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson danced a foxtrot Monday night. The two brought a combination of class and fun to the ballroom routine. However, it doesn’t particularly stand out as much as dances in this late stage in the competition should. Scores: 9+9+9+10=37

Taking on the Viennese Waltz this week was Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd. Though he’s been shaky the last couple of weeks, the veteran comedian gave a solid performance, stumbling just once towards the end of the routine. Scores: 7+8+7+7=29

Per America’s request, Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev did a samba while channeling sexy cats. Lea, taking the advice from the judges, made an effort to let go a bit more throughout the dance. But, according to Carrie Ann, she did get stuck being too rigid at times. Scores: 8+9+8+9= 34

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough were tasked with a Viennese Waltz that told the story of a couple breaking up. Derek’s choreography played up the emotions and seemed to blend some contemporary dance into the traditional ballroom dance. Scores: 9+9+9+9=36

Dancing the jive was Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas. Instead of orchestrating an elaborate scene or endeavoring to tell a story, Mark decided to strictly do the dancing. While the amount of content Mark packed into the routine was impressive, Sadie struggled to keep up. Scores: 8+9+8+8=36

Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy, who topped the leaderboard last week, wowed with a quickstep Monday. Val turned the ballroom dance into a fun routine that duly entertained all of the judges. Val made an error during the dance, but the judges’ don’t hold it against him. Scores: 9+10+10+10=38

Round 2

To kick off the second round of dances, Alfonso and Witney performed a Paso Doble with the help of Lindsay Arnold. Imbuing the dance with some hip-hop, Witney gave Alfonso a chance to shine, bookended by her and Arnold, who’ve been dancing together since they were 6. Scores: 10+10+10+10=40

Sharna Burgess joined Tommy and Peta for a samba that had an airline theme. Tommy was a first-class passenger, while both Peta and Sharna were stewardesses. The routine was little more than a prolonged lap dance that didn’t require Tommy to do any dancing. Scores: 7+7+7+7=28

Dancing the second trio Paso Doble was Lea, Artem and Henry Byalikov. The idea behind the dance made Lea a dominatrix of sorts and the two men as her sex slaves. It was another strong performance from Lea that had all of the judges singing her praises. Scores: 9+9+9+9=36

Bethany and Derek were joined by Tony Dovolani for an Argentine Tango. Surprisingly, Tony took the lead on most of the tricks and lifts, as Derek was still recovering from a back injury. Bethany really got the opportunity to shine during the routine. Scores: 9+10+10+9=38

Emma Slater danced a Foxtrot with Sadie and Mark, marking the first time a female pro was incorporated into a trio dance with a female star. Mark made it work by creating a story in which he leaves Emma for Sadie. Len Goodman loved the dance so much he wanted an “11” paddle. Scores: 10+10+10+10=40

For their second dance of the evening, Janel and Val teamed up with Keo Motsepe for a salsa. The routine had a tribal theme, with Janel serving as the two men’s queen. Despite there barely being a hint of salsa in the routine, the judges loved what they saw. Scores: 10+9+10+10= 39

At the end of all the dancing, Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev were eliminated from the competition, while Janel Parrish and Alfonso Ribeiro tied for the top of the leaderboard.
