‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 24, Episode 7 Recap: Nick Viall & Nancy Kerrigan Leave On Double Elimination Night

Two celebs got the axe on movie night of Dancing with the Stars.

DANCING WITH THE STARS RECAP

Nick Viall and Nancy Kerrigan couldn’t dance their way out of a double elimination on Monday night. The night started off with the announcement that two would go home, and that the dancers with the highest scores would get immunity tonight.

First up for Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess, who were given the theme of western films. They performed a less-than-hot paso doblé to “Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes” by Aaron Copland. Burgess completely outshined Bolton, and the pair ended up with a 29/40.

Kerrigan and her partner Artem Chigvintsev were assigned the romance genre, and so performed a tango to Roy Orbison‘s “Oh, Pretty Woman.” The routine seemed like a win for Kerrigan, as the judges agree she finally looks relaxed. They earn a 36/40.

Next up are Simone Biles and Sasha Farber, who got the fun category of silent films. They did a quick Charleston to “Charleston” by Bob Wilson and His Varsity Rhythm Boys. The high energy dance is perfect for the Olympian, though again, Biles shows a lack of emotional connection to the performance and her character. Still, they get a 37/40.

Then we see Viall and Peta Murgatroyd do their Argentine tango based on action movies to “Dangerous” by David Guetta feat. Sam Martin. For this routine, Viall nearly successfully channels Maks CHmerkovskiy, who was controversially voted off last week with Heather Morris. The judges finally think Viall looks like a dancer. The couple earn a 34/40.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater come out next with a horror-inspired paso doblé to “O Fortuna” by Carl Orff. Sticking with the theme, the dance tells the story of a serial killer who dances with his victims after he kills them. Though a strange story for DWTS, the routine is excellent, and earns them a 37/40.

Next on stage are David Ross and Lindsay Arnold, who get tasked with a sci-fi piece. They perform a salsa to Common‘s “Universal Mind Control.” The fun and clever choreography makes for an entertaining, if not perfect, routine. The judges give them a 32/40.

And lastly, we find Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy given foreign films, and so perform an Argentine tango to “Quizás, Quizás, Quizás,” by Andrea Bocelli feat. Jennifer Lopez. Kordei impresses the judges with her acting ability to seem strong and vulnerable simultaneously. And her leg movements are flawless. The pair receive the second perfect score of the season with 40/40. And thus they also receive immunity for the evening.

To decide who leaves, the remaining duos have to perform Dance-Offs. Winners of this component of the show add an extra 2 points to their original score. Biles and Farber choose to square off against Kerrigan and Chigvintsev, and the former win, giving them the edge. Jennings and Slater pick Ross and Arnold, and the former also win. That leaves Viall and Murgatroyd pitted against Bonner and Burgess, and this time the latter takes the prize. In the end, Viall and Kerrigan are sent home.

And like last week, many didn’t agree with the decision to send Kerrigan, who had been solid throughout the competition. Tune in next Monday on ABC to see what happens next.
