Four celebrity dancers remained at the start of last night’s DWTS finale part one, and then there were three.

DANCING WITH THE STARS FINALE PART ONE RECAP

At this point, only the best of the best are left, and the dances have all been breathtaking, which is why it was especially hard to say goodbye to country singer Jana Kramer and her partner Gleb Savchenko. In fact, they were the only couple to receive less than a perfect score. Their freestyle act to Sia’s “Unstoppable” garnered a 36/40. Savchenko had been feeling under the weather in the days leading up the Monday night, and a stumble from him contributed to their score.

“I said I’m sorry,” Savchenko lamented. “I just almost lost [Kramer] there.”

Backstage host Erin Andrews was encouraging. “But you didn’t! You recovered beautifully. You didn’t fall, and you picked right back up.” A simple “yeah” in response was all the professional could muster. Their tango that night earned them a 35/40, giving them a combined total of 71/80.

The night was considerably better for other couples Laurie Hernandez and Val ChmerkovskiyCalvin Johnson, Jr. and Lindsay Arnold, and James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess. They each got a perfect score in one of their dances, giving them totals of 78/80, 75/80, and 77/80, respectively.

It is sad to see Kramer, an early favorite, leave so close to the end of the competition. But the next episode should be very exciting, and hopefully full of perfect scores.
