Dana Giacchetto, The Former Famed ‘Stockbroker To The Stars,’ Found Dead At 53

Dana Giacchetto, who had made a name for himself in the 90s as the “Stockbroker to the Stars,” was found dead Sunday inside his Manhattan apartment. He was 53.

Giacchetto’s death was confirmed by a New York Police Dept. official to The Hollywood Reporter.

Giacchetto was found dead by his roommate at his Upper West Side apartment following a week of hard partying. His estranged girlfriend, with whom he had two kids, had become concerned about his well-being when she could not get in touch with him, and began contacting close friends Saturday evening. Giacchetto’s roommate was the one to find him in his bed face up and foaming at the mouth late Sunday morning. Giacchetto was pronounced dead by paramedics upon their arrival.

On Friday night, Giacchetto attended a premiere party for Legends of Freestyle at the DL nightclub, where he is said to have made a scene.

“There was yelling and screaming because they would not let him come back inside,” a partygoer told the New York Daily News. “He was so hammered that they wouldn’t let him back into the club. He was yelling at security. He tried getting into a fight with them and they had to ‘deal’ with him.”

In his heyday, Giacchetto counted Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Michael Ovitz, Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck, Michael Stipe and Matt Damon among his clients. His fall from grace came in 2001, when he was forced to plead guilty to securities fraud for stealing $5 million to $10 million from his clients. After spending a couple of years in jail, Giacchetto pursued other business ventures.
