Dan Stevens, the former Downton Abbey star, has revealed he’s lost roughly 30 pounds since leaving the hit British period drama.
“I've lost about 30 pounds since New Year, which, in British terms, is about two or three chins," he joked on The Graham Norton Show last night.
"It was for a role. It's always me, just different incarnations, different roles, different costumes and different sizes. As for the hair, it's pretty much my natural color. I went very dark for the last role, but I'll see where I go with it."
Stevens is currently promoting one of the many films he’s gotten roles in since departing Downton Abbey – Summer in February, alongside Dominic Cooper and Emily Browning. The film, directed by Christopher Menaul, takes place in the Edwardian artists’ colony in Cornwall and tells the story of an odd love triangle.

Since the untimely death of Steven’s character Matthew Crawley on Downton, which was precipitated by the actor’s desire to pursue other opportunities, he’s received ample backlash from fans. Recently, Stevens made his first public apology for his former character’s tragic fate.
“I am sorry about that!” Stevens told Radio Times magazine. “I think what emerged is that it’s an unwritten rule that you’re not supposed to die on British television on Christmas Day.”
