Wendy Williams won her battle against Wells Fargo to unfreeze her bank accounts after a New York judge appointed a financial guardian to oversee her finances. A court-appointed financial guardian will monitor how she accesses her money.
Wells Fargo froze Williams’ bank accounts back in February as the talk show host was considered an “incapacitated person.” Williams requested a hearing from the New York Supreme Court to determine whether she could regain access to her money. In March, a temporary guardian was appointed, despite attorney La’Shawn Thomas‘ insistence that her client is capable of independently handling her finances.
In other court documents, Williams divulged how she decided to take care of the issue.
“I have submitted multiple written requests to Wells Fargo and I have visited various Wells Fargo branches in the South Florida area in an effort to resolve this matter outside of the courtroom,” she said. “I have defaulted and I am at risk of defaulting on several billing and financial obligations, including, but not limited to, mortgage payments and employee payroll.”
