Theo James Addresses His Full Frontal Nudity On ‘The White Lotus’ – And How Fans Almost Got A Lot More!

Theo James revealed viewers were almost confronted with full-frontal nudity in season two of The White Lotus. James said the scene was ultimately cut because “it felt too much, too aggressive.”

In the season 2 premiere of the hit HBO Max show, James’ character, Cameron accompanies his friend’s wife, Harper (played by Aubrey Plaza) to her hotel room so he could borrow a pair of swim trunks. Cameron undresses in plain sight, leaving Harper (and viewers) aghast.

Fans took to Twitter to express their combined shock and enjoyment of the James’ reveal.

Some fans even wondered if James used a prosthetic penis.

James never confirmed nor denied these questions. Instead he focused on the production and direction of the scene, saying what aired ultimately favored a less head-on approach to the awkward situation.

James said the White Lotus team had to decide if the undressing was calculated, or something more “easy-breezy.”

“The original deviation of it, it’s kind of full-frontal, if you know what I mean. What we came to is a bit more opaque,” James said.

The White Lotus follows residents of an up-scale resort as they navigate personal drama and dysfunction. The second season has replaced its star-studded cast from season one, which included Sydney Sweeney, Jake Lacy, and Connie Britton. Jennifer Coolidge is one of the few returning characters.

The show airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
