Steve Bannon Will Serve Time In A Prison That Houses Violent Prisoners With No Private Cells

Steve Bannon, a former top adviser to the ex-president, is going to be serving time in a prison that houses violent criminals.

In July 2022, Bannon was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to give documents to the House Select Committee on the Capitol attack after being subpoenaed.

He was sentenced in October 2022 to four months behind bars.

Earlier this month, federal Judge Carl Nichols ordered him to report to prison by July 1 to serve his sentence.

The podcaster was ordered to report to the federal correctional institution in Danbury, Connecticut, on July 1 while he keeps fighting to avoid serving his four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.

“Steve Bannon denied his request for the so-called ‘Club-Fed’ when he is forced to report to prison,” CNN’s Erin Burnett recounted referring to a prison that houses non-violent criminals.

“Sources tell CNN that the longtime Trump ally will not get a cushy prison assignment but is likely to serve time in a Connecticut prison where he could be placed with violent criminals and sex offenders – a prison that does not have individual cells but rather an open pod layout for inmates,” she added.

“And CNN is learning tonight, but there is also a chance Bannon could be sent to New York City’s infamous Rikers Island,” she noted.

Reporter Katelyn Polantz stated that the outcome was “not at all what Steve Bannon was wanting here.”

“He had expected – and his lawyers had expected that – he’s non-violent; he had not had any prior convictions,” she said. “And so, maybe he would go to a prison camp, very minimal security in the federal system. That’s not what’s happening. He’s being told now by the [Federal] Bureau of Prisons that he will be going to a low-security prison.”

“So, he’s behind ‘The Wall,’ is what they call it,” Polantz added. “It’s different than a camp. It has more confines for the inmates that are kept there. Also, violent offenders can be kept in a low-security prison like the one Bannon is going to be reporting to in just a couple weeks in Danbury, Connecticut.”

The federal correctional institution holds over 1,000 male prisoners, some of whom might be violent offenders.

On May 11, 2023, Bannon’s home in Washington, D.C., was swatted again during his show Bannon’s War Room broadcast.

Police and rescue workers responded to a shooting call at his house in the morning.

When Bannon finished interviewing Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), shooting noises were heard in the background as he went on a commercial break.

Last month, Bannon implied in a social media post that the decision of billionaire Jeff Yass, who owns a stake in TikTok’s parent company, to contribute to the former president was likely behind his decision to suddenly reverse course and oppose a TikTok ban.
