Sen. John Fetterman Calls For Expulsion Of Fellow Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez After Corruption Charges

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) called for the expulsion of fellow Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) from the U.S. Senate.

Fetterman told The View that Menendez was more of a “Senator from Egypt, not New Jersey.”

“Sen. Menendez – he needs to go,” Fetterman said.

Fetterman referred to the accusations made by the federal prosecutors, claiming that Menendez participated in a bribery scheme that used his influence to benefit Egypt.

Menendez is now facing charges that accuse him of being a foreign agent for Egypt. Menendez’s trial is due to start in May.

Fetterman called Menendez’s actions “serious” and “sinister.” He then compared the situation to the removal of former Rep. George Santos (R-New York).

The House Ethics Committee conducted an investigation and made a formal report. Santos was found to have spent his campaign funds on personal trips, Botox and other personal items unrelated to his campaign.

Santos is now facing federal charges that include 23 counts related to wire fraud, identity theft, falsification of records, credit card fraud and other charges.

Santos has pleaded not guilty. He is to face trial in February.

The View host Joy Behar asked Fetterman for his reaction to the removal of Santos, “You’ve also been calling for – to get rid of Menendez, I know. But first, before we talk about that, what’s your reaction to the expulsion?”

Fetterman responded, “Well, I’m not surprised.”

He then asked, “If you are going to expel Santos, then how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?”

Menendez has been accused of accepting bribes from three businessmen since 2018. These bribes included cash, gold bars, a Mercedes-Benz and other valuables.

Neither Menendez nor his office have commented.

Fetterman has taken to platform X to continue to call out Menendez. He called Menendez “ethically challenged” and sent him a video Santos made.

Fetterman was recently in the news when he said that America is “not sending its best and brightest to Congress.”
