Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Slammed By Chairman For Refusing To Call Anthony Fauci ‘Doctor’

Controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) was rebuked by Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) for refusing to call Dr. Anthony Fauci by his title at this week’s committee hearing.

Greene is a vocal critic of Fauci, the former head of the CDD, and began a controversial line of questioning during the House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing regarding the origins of COVID-19 and the federal response to the pandemic.

She angered her Democratic colleagues by frequently referring to the president’s chief medical adviser as “Mr.” and saying he was not a doctor.

“Do the American people deserve to be abused like that Mr. Fauci,” she asked Fauci. “Because you’re not a doctor, you’re Mr. Fauci in my few minutes.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) then chimed in to offer an objection to Greene’s remarks.

“Mr. Chairman, just in terms of the rules of decorum, are we allowed to deny that a doctor is a doctor just because we don’t want him to be a doctor?” Raskin asked Wenstrup.

“Yes, because in my time, that man does not deserve to have a license,” Greene retorted. “As a matter of fact, it should be revoked, and he belongs in prison.”

“Suspend,” Wenstrup told her. “The gentlelady should recognize the doctor as a doctor.”

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California) also shared his dissatisfaction with the Georgia representative’s comments, asking if people have “devolved” and now have “no decorum.”

“That’s completely unacceptable to be able to deny Dr. Fauci, who’s here, a respected member of the medical community, his title,” he added. “And that’s actually a personal attack on his – on his character.”

Wenstrup had then pointed out that he told Greene “to address” Fauci “as a doctor.”

The panel agreed to have the Georgia congresswoman’s words taken down.

“Gentlelady will suspend!” Wenstrup declared.

He also said that “the chair overrules the point of order by [Raskin] but asks that members please afford all other members the respect they’re entitled, refrain from using rhetoric that could be construed as an attack on the motives or character of another member, or the witness.”

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California) replied to the Georgia representative’s remarks in his X post.

“Totally insane that Marjorie Taylor Greene would not refer to Dr. Fauci as a doctor,” he said. “He’s one of the most brilliant medical minds in the country. She’s a national embarrassment.”

The congresswoman shared a video on X criticizing Democrats.

“I’m really sick and tired of the bulls— antics I have to deal with constantly from the Democrats,” she declared. “So that’s what we just went through in there.”

“It’s nonstop B.S. and antics,” she said. “You want to know why? The Democrats don’t have anything.”

“They’re responsible for the lockdowns, forced vaccinations, kids being forced to stay home, people committing suicide, and all the horrors that this country lived through during Covid,” Greene claimed.

“Fauci belongs in prison,” the congresswoman stated. “He should be tried for mass murder, and he should be tried for crimes against humanity. That’s how I feel after that hearing. That’s how the American people feel.”

In a now-deleted X post from February, Greene stated that Judge Arthur Engoron “should be disrobed and thrown out”and that he is a “disgrace.” The post was made after Engoron ordered Donald Trump to pay $355 million in damages in a civil fraud case.

After her post went public, X users were confused by her use of the word “disrobe, ” which means “to take off one’s clothes,” according to the Oxford Dictionary. Others realized that she may have meant to say “disbarred,” which means to ban a lawyer from practicing.”

On May 19, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) called Greene a “racist” for saying that Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-New York) eyelashes were “fake” during the House Oversight meeting on May 16, which focused on GOP efforts to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
