Pole Vaulter Alysha Newman Shocks Olympic Crowd By Twerking After Winning Bronze

Alysha Newman, a Canadian Olympic pole vaulter, shocked the Stade de France crowd at the Paris Olympics by twerking after winning a bronze medal.

Newman cleared 4.85 meters in a hotly contested pole vault final on Wednesday night, breaking the national record before pulling out. She celebrated her bronze medal victory by twerking.

Following her success in Paris, she became the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal in the pole vault and the only person from the country to do so since 1912.

She stood among Australia’s Nina Kennedy, who took home gold, and Team USA’s Katie Moon, who won a silver medal.

Newman is also known for offering supporters insights into her life on OnlyFans. The pole vaulter’s page on the subscription site received nearly 65,000 likes. Fans were charged $7.14 to sign up for one month, and a regular monthly subscription cost $12.99.

Nevertheless, the Olympic pole vaulter’s presence on the platform has brought her growing scrutiny, especially after Wednesday’s viral moment at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She inspired controversy after viewers accused her of using the stunt to go viral to promote her OnlyFans account, where she sells explicit images of herself.

“Olympic athletes used to be considered heroes and a source of national pride,” one wrote on X on August 8. “This is just gross.”

“At this rate, it won’t be long until OnlyFans is part of the Olympics,” another wrote on Thursday. “Spread Them Cheeks Division.”

Newman has defended her use of OnlyFans. “Of course, many people have a certain cliché when they think of OnlyFans,” she told the German tabloid newspaper Bildin in response to these comments. “I can’t change many people’s minds.”

“But this website has connected me with many fans, more than any other pole vaulter before,” Newman added. “What others think about it doesn’t bother me.”

Newman committed to her OnlyFans subscribers, making promises after her Olympic success.

She posted an update celebrating her bronze medal while setting a new Canadian national record.

“I did it,” she wrote. “So happy to announce that I am taking home the BRONZE MEDAL and set a new NATIONAL RECORD for Canada.”

Newman also said that she might pick up some gifts for her subscribers.

World champion Mexican diver Diego Balleza also has an OnlyFans page. He started an OnlyFans page because he lacked the financial resources to support his training for this year’s Olympics.
