After her big win at the 2019 Women’s World Cup, captain of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team Megan Rapinoe couldn’t help but stop and show some love to her girlfriend, and professional basketball player, Sue Bird.
To celebrate the team’s win against the Netherlands, Rapinoe went up to the stands to share a kiss with Bird. This was America’s fourth win overall, and the game itself took place in Lyon, France.
Rapinoe has also expressed thanks for her relationship with Bird on her social media accounts.
Rapinoe had previously said that she would not go to the White House in the event of a U.S. win, which brought about a response from Donald Trump.
Bird and Rapinoe have made quite the statement as a successful couple and sports players. For ESPN Magazine’s 2018 Body Issue, Bird and Rapione were featured on the cover, making them the first gay couple to appear on the cover of this magazine’s issue.
