Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of the former president, announced on Sunday that she will be playing collegiate golf for the University of Miami. The 17-year-old shared her excitement and gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“I am beyond excited to share that I will be joining the University of Miami’s golf team,” Kai wrote. “A huge thank you to my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for their unwavering support throughout my journey. I also want to express my gratitude to my incredible team for helping me reach this milestone.”
Kai, daughter of Don Jr. and Vanessa Trump, acknowledged the significant role her family has played in her development as a golfer. She also expressed appreciation for the opportunities she’s had to play on prestigious golf courses, crediting her grandfather for these experiences. “I am so grateful to my Grandpa for giving me access to fantastic courses and for his tremendous support,” she said.
The teenager also extended her thanks to her family and friends for their encouragement, as well as to Coach Janice and Coach Jim for the opportunity to represent the University of Miami. “I am super excited to be a Cane and look forward to representing the University of Miami. Gooo Canes!” she added.
Kai gained media attention during the RNC last, particularly after speaking out following the assassination attempt against her grandfather. In a poignant moment at the event, she reflected on the impact of the attack on her family. “I was shocked when I heard about the attempt on my grandfather’s life and was anxious to know if he was okay,” she said. “Despite everything he’s been through, he remains resilient.”
In her Instagram tribute to her grandfather, Kai praised his perseverance and dedication. “Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you,” she wrote. “The media often portrays you differently than I know you to be. You are caring, loving, and committed to making this country great. We love you Grandpa. Never stop fighting!”
