Juan Soto Mocked For Weight Gain In His First Photos As A N.Y. Met With Record $765 Million Contract
Baseball fans mocked former New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto for putting on weight in his new pictures at the New York Mets’ stadium, Citi Field.
Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets after a free agency battle for him took place during the past month.
The deal also offers a player opt-out option in year four, which the team could void by adding $4 million annually.
JUAN SOTO’s WEIGHT GAIN
The total possible value of the contract comes to $805 million.
Last Thursday, Soto did a photoshoot at the stadium while wearing a Mets jersey for the first time.
Fans on X soon pointed out that the newest Mets team member had gained weight.
“How the hell did Soto gain 20 pounds in a month,” user @NotCasas wrote in an X post.
“Juan ‘Porker’ Soto,” another user, @MrBunt561, stated on the platform. “The $800M Fatty!!! He could not field for the Yankees when his weight was under control. Can you imagine how his fielding will be now? He was initially batting 325 for the Yankees but wound up at 285 by the end of the year. You do the math!”
@MarlowNYC noted that the ex-Yankees outfielder “really showed up to negotiations on a 15-year/$765 million contract in his second trimester … feeling better about Yanks missing out.”
“New Juan Soto pic y’all, he got so big,” user @duplicateoscar declared.
