Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the former president, has officially spoken up about her father’s conviction in the New York hush money trial on May 30.
On July 2, Ivanka talked about the conviction during an interview with Russian-American computer scientist Lex Fridman on his podcast.
Fridman asked the former president’s daughter what it is like for her to see her father “going through” such legal turmoil.
“On a human level, it’s my father, and I love him very much, so it’s painful to experience,” she said. “But ultimately, I wish it didn’t have to be this way.
“I like it that underneath all of this, ‘I love my father’ is the thing that you lead with,” Fridman noted. “And that’s so true, it is – it is family.”
“And I hope amidst all this turmoil, love is the thing that wins,” he added.
“It usually does,” Ivanka stated.
“In the end, yes,” Fridman mentioned in agreement.
“But in the short term, there is, like we were talking about, there’s a bit of bickering, but at least no more duals,” he said.
In late April, it was reported that Ivanka and his wife, Melania, were embarrassed by the hush money trial and refused to attend the proceedings.
On May 30, Ivanka publicly discussed her dad’s legal battles for the first time after his conviction in his hush money trial.
Ivanka posted a childhood photograph of herself and her father on her Instagram story, accompanied by the caption, “I love you, Dad,” and a heart emoji.
