Cyndi Lauper’s Son Threatened With Eviction From $7,200 Per Month Apartment For Disruptive Behavior After Illegal Gun Charge

Singer Cyndi Lauper‘s son, Declyn “Dex” Lauper-Thorton, could be evicted from his Manhattan apartment for disruptive behavior.

Last month, Lauper-Thorton’s landlord hit him with an eviction notice. The New York County Civil Court filing cited loud music, late-night screaming and the smell of marijuana as reasons for Lauper-Thorton, 26, to leave the $7,200-a-month apartment located in the Financial District.

A former neighbor of Lauper-Thorton claimed that loud music came from the apartment early in the morning.

On a separate occasion, a tenant found a stray bullet in the apartment hallway after confronting Lauper-Thorton about a disruptive night. The tenant moved out shortly after. Lauper-Thorton was previously arrested in February for possession of an illegal gun in Harlem, New York, related to a shooting. The shooting resulted in a 24-year-old male shot in the leg. Lauper-Thorton’s father, actor David Thorton, gave $20,000 in bail for his son.

Lauper-Thorton had also threatened the building manager over an email while holding a marijuana blunt.

“If you don’t fix the email, I will come back with people and have everyone’s face broken,” he allegedly said. “I will break your legs. I have friends and an uncle that will f—k you up. Don’t play with me because I will bring someone with me and tear this whole place up.”

Tenants repeatedly reported Lauper-Thorton to building management for his behavior. Some said it made the building “unliveable.” The 26-year-old rapper’s lawyer, Darryl Vernon, said, “We are talking about ways to resolve the situation.”
