CSI, which has been on CBS for the last 15 years, has reportedly been canceled – though the network has yet to officially announce the decision.
It was first reported last week that CBS was canceling the long-running CSI after a Vulture reporter tweeted about it. “Two sources tell me CSI: will end its run next season with a two-hour movie,” Joe Adalian wrote.
Unlike most shows on the chopping block, CSI still does well in the ratings, better than most of the shows on TV. However, due to its longevity it’s expensive to produce and could have been axed strictly due to financial reasons.
The good news for CSI fans is that CSI: Cyber’s first season proved promising enough for network execs to renew it for a sophomore season.
CBS has also renewed NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, Hawaii Five-O, The Odd Couple and more. Stalker, Battle Creek, and The McCarthys were all canceled.
