The Critics Choice Awards were held Sunday night in Los Angeles, where Spotlight received the top honor.
In addition to taking home the the Best Picture prize, Spotlight also in the Acting Ensemble and Original Screenplay (Josh Singer, Tom McCarthy) categories. Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant) got closer to getting his first Oscar with a Critics Choice Best Actor win. Brie Larson continued her string of Best Actress wins for Room, while her young costar Jacob Tremblay received the Best Young Actor/Actress trophy. Sylvester Stallone (Creed) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) took home the supporting role awards.
Mad Max: Fury Road was dubbed the Best Action Movie. It took home a string of other awards, including Best Director (George Miller), Best Actress in an Action Movie (Charlize Theron) and Best Actor in an Action Movie (Tom Hardy). The Big Short was the critics’ favorite comedy, and star Christian Bale won for Best Actor in a Comedy. Amy Schumer (Trainwreck) received the Best Actress in a Comedy Award.
In TV, Master of None was named the Best Comedy Series, Mr. Robot was Best Drama Series and Fargo was Best Made-For-TV movie or Limited Series. TV acting awards went to Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Idris Elba (Luther) and Kirsten Dunst (Fargo).
The Voice won for Best Reality Show. Shark Tank received the Critics Choice Award for Best Structured Reality Show, while Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown won for Best Unstructured Reality Show. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was the Best Talk Show.
