Cristin Milioti Reveals Trump ‘Crashed’ ‘Wolf Of Wall Street’ Set: ‘He Was A Complete Buffoon’

Cristin Milioti had her breakout with her role in Martin Scorsese‘s 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, but it was an experience filled with rocky moments, thanks to the actress’ nerves and the then-future president Donald Trump.

The Palm Springs actress has revealed that Trump made an uninvited appearance during a night shoot outside Trump Tower.

“Ugh,” Milioti told The Independent. “He crashed the set and he was a complete and utter buffoon, as we all know.”

The actress chose to keep her comment brief, refusing to give the former president any more airtime.

Milioti played Teresa Petrillo, the first wife of Jordan Belfort (portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio) who Belfort eventually cheats on with Margot Robbie‘s character Naomi. Milioti’s shining moment in the film is when Teresa stumbles across Jordan’s infidelity, opening up a limousine door to find her husband snorting cocaine off of Naomi’s breasts.

“That was a wild night,” Milioti told The Independent. “We shot from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and we did that scene over and over and over. I [actually hit Leonardo for real] a bunch of times. I just kind of slapped the hell out of him for 12 hours. I always had a real attachment to that scene, because you get to see this character, who has swallowed a lot of her feelings down, really get to let loose.”

The actress reflected on her jitters during her time on set. “I spent so much of that experience being so terrified of messing it up,” Milioti said. “I’d never been on a movie set that big. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I wish I had taken it in more and let go more. But if I had fully taken it in, I would have blacked out. I don’t think my brain was even computing.”

The Wolf of Wall Street hit box offices with huge commercial success, netting $392 million worldwide and gaining critical acclaim, earning five Academy Award nominations in 2014. After her time in the film, Milioti saw her career begin to take off. The actress landed the role as the mysterious ‘mother’ in the hit TV series How I Met Your Mother the same year and found success in the Emmy-awarded true-crime series Fargo as the character Betsy Solverson.
